Spreading the Word: Rick Espitia Featured in Ranch & Coast Magazine

“We want these veterans to know their service is appreciated as they get themselves and their families on their feet in the civilian world.” — Rick Espitia, Executive Director of Wounded Warrior Homes

Those powerful words from our Executive Director were recently shared in Ranch & Coast Magazine, where Rick was featured in an in-depth article highlighting the heart behind our newest initiative Operation Mental Health and the Women Veterans Center in Escondido.

The piece explores the growing need for transitional housing and mental health support tailored to women veterans, a group often underrepresented in traditional veteran services. Rick shares how our organization is stepping in to fill that gap by creating a safe, supportive home where women veterans and their children can begin again with dignity, stability, and opportunity.

The article also touches on Operation Mental Health, our broader program aimed at ensuring that mental health is a core part of the transition journey. From trauma recovery to employment readiness, Wounded Warrior Homes is building a foundation that addresses both seen and unseen wounds.

The Women Veterans Center includes private rooms, shared living space, and a dedicated learning station to support job hunting, schoolwork, and skill-building, all within a nurturing environment where residents can focus on healing and progress.

We’re honored to be featured in Ranch & Coast Magazine and grateful to Rick for continuing to share our story and mission with the broader community.
